Teacher Training at Southborough

Train to Teach with Us

At Southborough, we are proud to play a key role in developing the next generation of teachers. We work in partnership with a range of teacher training providers across London, supporting trainee teachers as they work towards gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

We are committed to providing high-quality training experiences, professional guidance and opportunities for aspiring teachers to develop their practice within a supportive school environment.

Each training provider offers a variety of exciting routes into teaching. For further information about available courses and pathways, please contact the individual providers directly.

If you are interested in a career in teaching and would like to train with us, please contact Ben Roberts, Assistant Headteacher responsible for Teacher Development.

At Southborough, we are also proud to be a partner school of the SFET Teaching School Hub — Success for Every Teacher.

SFET Teaching School Hub

We are delighted to support the Hub’s work across Kingston, Surbiton and the wider South-East region. The government’s “golden thread” of teacher development sits at the centre of some of the most significant reforms to teacher education and professional development in recent years, and we are proud to contribute to this important work across our region.

The SFET Teaching School Hub provides high-quality professional development opportunities for the full range of the education workforce, including primary, secondary, special, alternative provision and early years settings. Engagement with current educational research, professional reading and evidence-informed practice is central to the Hub’s work and underpins its professional development offer.

The Hub supports all stages of teacher development, including:

  • Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
  • The Early Career Framework (ECF)
  • Appropriate Body services for Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
  • National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), including specialist and leadership pathways through to executive headship

The Hub serves Kingston and Surbiton, as well as the wider South-East region, including Guildford, Rushmoor, Waverley and Hart.

Through strong regional partnerships, the Hub aims to share expertise and best practice across schools, delivering a high-quality, school-led offer that benefits teachers, support staff and school leaders alike.
