PTA Fundraising Success

Last Friday evening Southborough High School’s wonderful PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) hosted a highly successful and extremely entertaining Comedy Night. First launched a couple of years back, the evening once again proved to be highly enjoyable.

Over 100 parents, carers and staff bought tickets to see three very funny stand-up comedians take to the stage.

We were delighted to be able to secure the talents of Dave Fulton, Jenny Collier and El Baldinho, as well as Ash Frith who was also hilarious as MC.

The warm up act before the comedians took to the stage was our very own Year 10 student Alfie L, who as a talented magician wowed the audience with his brilliant tricks!

Another fun activity that not only raised extra money for the school - but a few extra laughs too - was an entertaining game of ‘Heads & Tails’. Everyone put in £1 and had to guess which side the coin fell by either putting their hands on their heads or backsides. A fast-paced game that was great fun to watch, too!

Members of our PTA worked tirelessly throughout the evening running a bar serving soft drinks and light snacks to our peckish guests.

On behalf of the school, we would like to thank everyone who bought tickets and spent such an enjoyable evening with us on Friday. It really does illustrate what a great and supportive community we are when we pull together.

Of course, events like this don’t ‘just happen’; members of our PTA-, led by SLT member Mrs Bennett,   worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the evening such a resounding success. Our Site staff worked hard, as they always do, to set the hall out and help clear up afterwards. 

An extra special mention must go to P.T.A members Vicky and Rob, who planned and organised the comedians and also to Tricia, Ken, Shamama and Cindy, who together ensured that snacks and refreshments were in plentiful supply throughout the evening.

The event was such fun, we hope to host another Comedy Night again soon. Watch this space!
