Following a rigorous selection process—including formal interviews with Head of Sixth Form Mr Needs and Sixth Form tutors, as well as a whole-school vote—our new Student Leadership Team for 2026/27 was proudly announced in June. Having settled into their roles this term, members of the team had to hit the ground running.
Their first major duty saw them play a pivotal role at our Whole School Open Evening earlier this week, acting as exceptional ambassadors for Southborough.
Head of Sixth Form Mr Needs praised the high calibre of candidates:
"The Sixth Form team and I were incredibly impressed by this year's applications, with some students even creating dynamic 'vote for me' campaign videos! Having spoken in depth to every successful candidate, we are confident they will make an outstanding team and accomplish great things this year."
Despite only being in post for a few weeks, the team has already thrown themselves into Sixth Form life. From promoting Oxbridge Open Days to encouraging peers to join the popular K-Club—celebrating Korean cuisine and culture—they are helping build a vibrant community. Students have also taken part in cultural trips across London, with preparations now underway for our annual Sponsored Charity Walk and Christmas Food Bank Collection.
These opportunities come alongside an expanded academic offering. Combining high expectations with exceptional support, Southborough Sixth Form now features clearly defined pathways designed to help every student thrive. This includes our brand-new T Level pathway in Administration and Management, equivalent to three A Levels and packed with real-world industry experience.
