Tailored Shorts are now optional for the second Summer Half Term

I am pleased to share an update regarding a change to our school uniform, following the work of our elected Student Parliament. Our student representatives have worked hard to advocate for this change on behalf of the student body, demonstrating excellent leadership and student voice.
After careful consideration, including consultation with Governors, parents/carers and our uniform supplier, PMG Schoolwear, the proposal has now been approved. From Summer Term 2, students will be permitted to wear tailored shorts as part of their daily school uniform.

Please note the following important information:
● Tailored shorts must be plain black and tailored in style.
● Sports shorts, casual shorts, or any alternatives are not permitted.
● All other uniform expectations remain unchanged, including school shoes, shirt and tie. Blazers will remain optional during the summer term.
In consultation with PMG Schoolwear, the estimated cost of tailored school shorts is:
● £12.99 (younger sizes)
● £14.99 (larger sizes)
For families entitled to Free School Meals, financial support is available from the school to support with this purchase.
As always, our uniform expectations will remain high. Students are expected to meet these standards at all times. Where this is not the case, the school will follow its usual behaviour policy procedures. In the first instance, we will provide a clean item of loan uniform (including shoes, trousers, shirts, ties and blazers).
In the unlikely event of continued non-compliance, and where appropriate after considering individual circumstances, students may be placed in Internal Exclusion for the remainder of the day.
We will continue to communicate these expectations clearly to students and appreciate your ongoing support in ensuring high standards are maintained.
I would also like to thank our Student Parliament members for their excellent efforts in representing the student body. I am sure the tutor group constituencies they represent will be very pleased with their hard work in helping to make this popular proposal a reality.

Yours sincerely,

Niall Smith
