I love being the headteacher of this school. Not only does the progress we have made over recent years fill me with enormous pride, but I also know that this is a school where staff and students work exceptionally well together. We are a school that is going places!
Here’s how:
Firstly, our exam results: last year, at GCSE, 68% of students achieved Grade 4+ in English and 73% achieved this threshold in Maths. Southborough is, of course, a proudly inclusive school, which caters for a full range of attainment: 96% of our students achieved 5 grades 1-9 and 100% achieved 1 grade 1-9. These percentages represent a significant achievement for our students and their teachers. At A Level, 22% of all grades were A*-B and 46% were A*-C, which is pleasing. These grades, which were achieved in a full range of subjects, have enabled our students to pursue their future aspirations fully, whether that is at university or in the world of work.
Secondly, our Ofsted report: in November 2017, Southborough High School was again rated as "Good", with a particular highlight being: “A marked feature of the school is the respect and tolerance with which all members of the community treat each other. The environment is orderly and pupils consistently display positive attitudes to their learning.” We believe that an “Outstanding” rating is within our grasp and are working hard to improve even further.
Thirdly, our extracurricular offer: we believe in educating the whole person, which is why we strive to create the very best extracurricular opportunities for our students.
Finally, the future: we believe that in order to thrive, we need to keep innovating and moving forward. Come and join us!
