OAP Christmas Tea Party

Sixth Formers Organize Christmas Tea Party for

Local Senior Citizens Each Year

Each year, Southborough High School hosts a special Christmas tea party for Senior Citizens living in the community. Led by our Sixth Formers, the annual event is held as a way of saying a big ‘thank you’ to all those lovely elderly men and women who in one way or another, have a connection to a school, whether it’s their own children or grandchildren who once attended – or whether they know of family and friends who are enrolled know. It’s a time to really get to know our lovely elderly neighbours and it’s something that we all look forward to as our guests are always such great company and know how to enjoy themselves!

Sixth Formers organize an afternoon of bingo, prize giving and carol singing. Younger students in the school’s ‘Greedy Griffin’ catering club plan, prepare and serve a superb afternoon tea to our honoured guests, who in turn are also delighted with the glass or two of sherry they are also served to accompany such a tasty feast.

Suffice to say, the party always goes with a swing!
